The Rocky Jazz String Orchestra is a combination of strings and jazz. Our goal is to bring a new genre of jazz to edmonton.

At the moment, seasonal memberships are available for players who follow the criteria above. Auditions will be at the first week of September, and a full season will take place from September-End of April/Early May
Auditions are required
Rehearsals will be every Tuesday 7-9pm, Location First Presbyterian Church
After auditions, we will send an email with the ensemble list.
If accepted into ensemble, there is a 150$ non-refundable membership fee

Requirements to join the band
(These are broad and there can be exceptions):
All ages are welcome to join!
Been playing your instrument for over 1 year
Had played in at least one other ensemble before
You need to have your own instrument supplied with the exception of percussion, piano, and drum set.
Attendance at each rehearsal is mandatory with exceptions, not notifying the conductors can lead to dismissal of membership in band.
We reserve the right to dismiss a member from the band

The Rocky Jazz Composer Competition
Get your music played by RJSO!
Competition details will open in October,
RJCC gives composers in the communities that are either 16-30 or students at any university an opportunity to write a piece for RJSO and even get it played.
A theme will be given with specific requirements in October and a panel from RJSO will decide the winner, the winner will be given the opportunity to direct their piece and will be featured in our final concert of the year.
