Are you a musician in the Greater Edmonton area looking for the chance to play in an ensemble that plays a diverse range of genres and styles? The Rocky Jazz String Orchestra is looking for players for the upcoming 2026/27 season!

Audition Information

Auditions will take place either in-person or through a virtual submission format. Please look at the audition information provided, as well as the sign-up form, for everything you need this upcoming season!

Virtual Submission Deadline: Friday, September 4th, 2026 @ 11:59 PM
In-Person Audition Dates: September 5 and 6, 2:00-7:00 PM, at the Ross Sheppard High School Theatre (13546 111 Ave NW, Edmonton, AB T5M 2P2; subject to change).

Your choice of audition format will not affect the perception of your audition.

  • We suggest an online or virtual audition for those who may not be able to attend the in-person rounds, or for those who would like to submit their audition early.

  • Virtual auditions will not include sightreading.

Rehearsals

The ensemble has weekly rehearsals on every Tuesday, 7:30-9:30 PM at Brandenburg Music (15907 100a Ave NW, Edmonton, AB T5P 0L7).

MEMBER Fees

Membership fees are $175.00 for the 2026/27 season. Fees will cover rehearsal space rentals, venue costs, instrument rentals, printing, and any additional costs the organization may have to pay. Financial assistance is available to musicians who may be in need.

1x Flute, 2x Alto Sax, 2x Tenor Sax, 1 Bari Sax
4x Trumpets, 4x Trombones
1x Guitar, 1x Electric Bass, 1x Piano, 1x Drum Kit, 3x Percussion
8x Violins, 4x Violas, 4x Cellos, 2x Double Basses

Unlisted instruments are still open to audition for us! We are flexible with instrumentation and would love to have you in the ensemble! (Including but not limited to: oboe, clarinet, bassoon, french horn, etc.)
